Texas Social Media Research Institute To Host Third Annual Social Media Conference Social Media Conference set for Nov. 8 at Tarleton’s Fort Worth Campus STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Texas Social Media Research Institute (TSMRI) will host its third annual Social Media Conference on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Tarleton Southwest Metroplex Center. Each year, TSMRI plans a Social Media Conference that includes speakers for various topics from how to use Pinterest to using social media in a K-12 or college classroom. The conference will share research that TSMRI has done as well as how-to’s for social media. This year the conference will be moved to Tarleton’s Fort Worth campus to accommodate attendants from across the nation who are flying into the DFW Airport. “I am excited to see how much the conference has grown just in the two years that we’ve had one,” said Dr. Jennifer T. Edwards, executive director/researcher for TSMRI. Last year’s conference had 200 people and Edwards hopes to exceed that number this year. In the past, the conference has had speakers and attendees from Europe and Louisiana, and from various backgrounds like public relations, tourism and higher education. The Texas Social Media Research Institute is an organization based at Tarleton State University that consists of students, researchers and professors who want to provide research and training focused on communication technology and social media for K-12 education, higher education, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. The organization consists of directors, interns, and fellows that all work together to create workshops, blog posts, and a year-end conference. The deadline to submit a proposal is June 15 and conference speakers will be chosen July 15. If you are interested in speaking at the conference, or would like to learn more about Texas Social Media Research Institute, please visit http://www.tarleton.edu/TSMRI/index.html or email Edwards at [email protected].
